The Pharmacia UV-1 FPLC detector if used for monitoring proteins, nucleic acids and other substances at 254, 280 or 405 nm. The UV-1 is a flow-through dual beam column monitor ideally suited for a wide range of chromatographic conditions. The UV-1 has a wide sensitivity range, measuring optical density from 0.0004 to 6.67 as well as 0 to 100% transmission. Requires filter kit (not included). Measure UV-absorbance with a range of 8 full scale sensitivities in the range of 0.01-2 absorbance units. Results are expressed as AU or %T. Simple wavelength change with interference filters. Flow through reference cell compensates for background absorption shown by solvents or buffer salts. Uses low pressure mercury lamp. Linearity is better than +/- 3% to 2 AU at 254nm with flowing liquid. Output: 0 to 10mV. Operating temperature: 0C to 40C. Noise: 0.0004 AU (peak to peak with flowing liquid).
